Personal development & welfare

The Sullivan Centre is a nurturing and supportive environment for all of our pupils.
Together we achieve is our tagline for a reason – we offer support in a number of ways such as :

  • Offer opportunities to acquire and develop key skills

  • By taking into account of individual priorities through bespoke 1-1 mentoring

  • Promote spiritual, moral, social and cultural, as well as both academic and physical development

  • Prepare students for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life

  • Collaborative multi agency working to achieve a holistic package of support for each pupil

  • Provide support to develop key social & emotional skills, including promoting self confidence and positive self-image

We achieve this by:

  • Providing a small nurturing environment that promotes challenge and supports with a range of social, emotional and mental health issues

  • Providing bespoke 1-1 and small group mentoring sessions

  • Embedding positive praise and strategies to boost self-confidence within school day. Small steps targets are decided by the pupil and monitored via their individualised progress passports

  • Inviting pupils to be involved in extra curricular activities and engage within their local community

  • Promote positive mental well-being through relaxation for instance getting involved in our class yoga sessions

  • Collective worship opportunities that involve active group discussions on a range of issues including peer relations, respecting cultural differences and promoting British values

  • PSHCE lessons to discuss as a group moral dilemmas in life and real life scenarios to develop pupil’s life skills
